Former University of Hawaii football player Tavita Woodard will explore other opportunities after not receiving a contract offer from the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
Woodard, who was not selected in this year’s NFL Draft, was invited to audition at the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp this past weekend. Although Woodard was used at outside linebacker on the first unit during drills, he did not receive a free-agent contract.
Woodard was told he would be considered for future openings with the Seahawks. NFL teams are limited to 93-player rosters during the offseason.
"He did well enough to keep himself in the conversation for the future," agent Cameron Weiss said. "Right now we’re trying to work on getting him looks with other teams or other opportunities."
Woodard returned to Honolulu, where he will continue to train.
Woodard is a McKinley High graduate who completed his UH eligibility at the end of the 2013 season. He earned his bachelor’s degree in December.
